Beirut – Harissa – Byblos (43 Km)
Visit of the Capital:
Beirut.
The Pigeons Rock, the Coastal Avenue, then the city center where you will
find one of the largest reconstruction project in the World. Visit the
National
Museum. Via
the Coastal highway, proceed to the
Dog River
and to Harissa, climbing by cable car to the Holy statue of Notre
Dame for a view of Jounieh and Beirut. Continue on the northern coast to
Byblos,
the oldest town in the world continuously inhabited for the last 5000
years. Visit the Citadel, the St John church and the harbor. Return to the
hotel in Beirut. |

Cedars – Bcharreh – Qadisha – Tripoli (124 Km)
Drive north and climb to
the Cedars where only some 400 trees remains but some are aging
more than 2000 years. Walk through the forest which, is today an
eco-museum. Continue to Bcharré, village over the Qadisha valley
and home town of the Lebanese poet Gebran Khalil Gebran Discover his work
at the museum. Continue to reach the second town in Lebanon
Tripoli.
Visit of the St. Gilles castle then the Taylan Mosque. Walk through the
souk, caravanserails and to the port. Return to hotel in Beirut. |

Jeita
Grottoes – Faqra ( 53 Km)
Visit to the Jeita grotto. The grotto is the slow work of the
nature during the past thousand years. Visit of the upper cave on foot
which is access by a cable car then to the lower cave which is visited by
small boat on the internal lake. Drive up the mountain to reach Faqra.
At About 1500 meters above the sea level stands a Roman temple is very
good shape. Drive through the Lebanese mountain villages via Kfarbedian,
Bickfaya onwards to Broumana. Proceed to Beit Mery
and visit Deir Qalaa. On the way back to Beirut, you may observe
from above the valley, the Roman aqueduct of Zbeide near Mkalles.
Return to the hotel in Beirut. |

Beiteddine & Deir El Kamar (48 Km)
The day will start with
the visit of the Chouf Mountain. First village is Deir El Qamar,
the ancient residence of the Governors of Lebanon. Continue to
Beiteddine, where a superb Palace stands over the valley. Typical
example of the Lebanese architecture during the 18th and 19th
century. Visit the museum, the unique exhibition of mosaics. Proceed to
the Moussa
Castle,
interesting place by the fact that it has been built by one person only in
devotion to a promised wife. Return to the hotel in Beirut. |

Baalbeck
– Ksara – Anjar (125 Km)
Drive across Mount
Lebanon then descend towards the
Beqaa Valley
to reach the world greatest historical sites: Baalbeck. Visit the
place with the Temple of Jupiter and Bacchus. Visit the Ksara
winery for a taste of the Lebanese production. Proceed to Anjar the
only Omayyad site in Lebanon, recognized to be one of the major market
place on the Silk Road. Return to the hotel in Beirut. |

Drive early morning towards the border,
cross into Lebanon, meet & assist with entry formalities and proceed to
visit Lebanon’s greatest Roman treasure , Baalbeck, counted among the
wonders of the ancient world. The site includes the temples of Jupiter,
Bacchus & Venus, with the remarkable Great Court and the Hexagonal
Forecourt. Drive then through Beqaa Plain and Visit Ksara Winery, a large
producer, famous for using the Roman caves as wine natural cellars,
producing many varieties of wines of which 50% are red. After wine
tasting, cross Mount Lebanon range and descent to Beirut for dinner and
overnight. |

Beirut - Dog River & Byblos
Visit the National Museum and drive to
the downtown district to see the huge reconstruction project-taking place
to create a new commercial and residential district of the 21st
century. This project has actually discovered that the capital is standing
on the site of a very ancient settlement going back at least 5,000 years.
Recent excavations have uncovered important archaeological sites from
Canaanite, Phoenician, and Persian, Roman, Byzantine, Omayyad, Abbassid,
Crusader, Mamluke and Ottoman eras. The 1.80 sq. meters reconstruction
project includes new buildings but constructed in the traditional style,
besides hundreds of old structures that have been restored and renovated
to its original shapes, including Beirut’s souks and historical mosques
and churches. Drive 20km along the highway north of Beirut to visit the
Dog River, for its commemorative inscriptions that have been left behind
by conquering armies between 2nd millenium BC. and 1949 AD.
Proceed north to discover a town that
goes back 7,000 years; and the worlds oldest continuously inhabited.
Located 37km north of Beirut,
Byblos is a quite charming
small town of great history. Visit its ancient sites, and then explore the
old part of the town on foot, starting from fishermen’s harbor, leading
uphill towards the Church of St. John the Baptist and souks. Return to
Beirut Hotel for Dinner and overnight. |
